Ana Doménech

Ana Doménech Gómez is a distinguished veterinarian and academic who earned both her veterinary degree and PhD from the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM). She currently serves as a Professor in the Department of Animal Health at the UCM Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, where she teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses on infectious diseases, preventive medicine, health policy, zoonoses, and public health. Her academic work is complemented by her role as a member of the Clinical Microbiology and Parasitology Service at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital of the UCM. Her research interests are primarily focused on animal retroviruses, particularly those affecting feline and ruminant species, with an emphasis on pathogenesis, immune response, and the development of diagnostic methods. Dr. Doménech is a prolific author and coordinator of veterinary textbooks, including the 'Graphic Handbook of Immunology and Infectious Diseases in Cattle.' She is an active member of several professional organizations, including the Spanish Virology Society, the European Society for Virology, and the European Association of Veterinary Laboratory Diagnosticians.
