Eugenio Gaudio is a distinguished Italian anatomist and academic who served as the Rector of Sapienza University of Rome from 2014 to 2020. Born in Cosenza in 1956, he earned his degree in Medicine and Surgery from Sapienza University in 1980, followed by a Master's degree in Internal Medicine. Throughout his extensive career, he has held numerous leadership roles, including Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy and Medicine at Sapienza and Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery at the University of L’Aquila. His research focuses on human anatomy, hepatology, and microcirculation, with over 500 scientific publications to his credit. In addition to his academic contributions, he has served as a counselor for the Ministry of University and Research and as President of the Sapienza Foundation. He is also a recognized author of medical textbooks, including the Human Anatomy Atlas series published by Edra. His work has been widely cited, and he has received significant honors, including the Commander of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic.
