About
Marie Burneko, VMD, DACVS, is an Assistant Professor of Small Animal Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from the University of Vermont in 2011 and her VMD from the University of Pennsylvania in 2016. Following her graduation, she completed a small animal rotating internship at Tufts University Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine, a surgical internship at Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists, and a three-year surgical residency at the University of Pennsylvania, which she concluded in 2021. Dr. Burneko is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons (Small Animal). Her clinical expertise encompasses minimally invasive surgery, soft tissue surgery, orthopedics, oncology, and interventional radiology. In addition to her clinical work, she is dedicated to the development of surgical educational tools designed to enhance the quality and efficiency of resident training. She is a co-author of the "Manual of Small Animal Surgical Emergencies," published by Edra Publishing.
