The use of intravenous access devices is fundamental for all patients needing frequent blood sample collection, artificial nutrition, chemotherapy, antibiotic therapy, and any other intravenous treatment.
Help your patients to smile with confidence. This non-formulaic focus on Smile Design offers a “how-to” approach to patient communication surrounding the art of smile analysis, the treatment planning process, and case presentation. Read it again and again as you master each step of smile creation at your own pace.
"Photography for me is different than some other facets of dentistry. It has a power that is unspoken and transformative. With just a visual image, you can change the mind-set of a patient and elicit emotion from both the subject and the photographer. It is art. It is dynamic. It is simple. It is complex. It is powerful." Amanda Seay, DDS, FAACD, FAGD
This book helps athletes in managing nutrition and choosing supplements that improve athletic performance, based on strong scientific evidence and in complete safety. It covers all the main types of physical activity, from the gym to cycling, from running to crossfit, considering also the needs of special categories of sportsmen. Specific nutritional approaches, such as the ketogenic diet and intermittent fasting, are also described. 86 data sheets report the features and properties supplements that allow an optimal performance. Each supplement is assigned a score, to allow the reader to evaluate its effectiveness in improving the parameters that influence athletic performance (strength, resistant strength, mass, endurance, weight loss, concentration, recovery).
“Dr. Tony Feck defines the prosperous dental practice in all its aspects. From hiring, leadership, production, and growth, to profitability; no stone is left unturned. The roadmap to follow is clearly and concisely laid out for every dentist to follow. All you have to do is take the first step: read the book, cover to cover and start using the dozens of practical forms and outlines which Feck provides.” Dr. Christopher Phelps, DMD CMCT
The second edition of this book presents veterinary professionals with practical solutions to specific situations they may encounter due to new tendencies influencing the sector. The author gives clear, straightforward, and yet dynamic explanations of topics such as market research, how to form a team and retain staff, business plans and protocols, or how to control expenditure. The book has also been updated with the know-how required to get the most out of the new technologies and digital tools now available to veterinary practices (social media, digital marketing, etc.). The book aims to introduce veterinary professionals who own a practice to the management skills that can empower them to become cutting-edge veterinary entrepreneurs.
Among the anxiety disorders, Panic Disorder (PD) is one of the most common forms of psychological distress in contemporary societies, often present in comorbidities with depressive disorders or addictions. It is extremely debilitating, and frequently associated with high levels of social, occupational, and physical disability. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reproces¬sing) is the first choice to treat traumatic or stress related disorders, and for several years has also been demonstrably effective in PD.
The ultimate objective of root canal therapy is the three-dimensional obturation of the endodontic space after it has been completely cleaned, shaped, and disinfected.
The purpose of obturation is to seal all "portals of exit" to impede any sort of communication or exchange between the endodontium and periodontium.

Two canals in the same root could each have their apical foramen or converge into a single foramen. This characteristic could apply to any root containing two canals internally. Still, it is crucial to remember this when preparing the mesial canals of lower molars and mesiobuccal canals of upper molars.
The presence of two canals with separate foramen does not require any particular know-how during the preparation phase but only in the obturation phase.
When the two canals converge in a common foramen instead, it is necessary to take some precautions during the shaping phase and ascertain the presence of this anatomic peculiarity as soon as possible.

Perforations are pathological or iatrogenic communications between the root canal system and the attachment apparatus. The clinician must take special care to avoid tooth perforations during endodontic therapy, as perforation requires additional treatment.

Occasionally, a nonsurgical root canal procedure won't be enough to save a tooth, and endodontic surgery will be recommended. Advanced technologies like digital imaging and operating microscopes allow these procedures to be performed quickly, comfortably, and successfully.

Sometimes, a nonsurgical root canal procedure is not enough to save a tooth, and endodontic surgery is recommended.
Techniques, materials, and knowledge are essential to make microsurgical endodontics approaches accurate and predictable in treating endodontic lesions.

For years, two-dimensional (2D) radiographic examinations, dental panoramic, and periapical radiographs have been used.
The interpretation of a two-dimensional image can be complicated by several factors, including the anatomical area and the overlap of other teeth and surrounding dentoalveolar structures.
These problems can be overcome by using images obtained with small or otherwise limited volumes of Cone Beam Computed Tomography, which provides accurate three-dimensional images of the teeth and surrounding dentoalveolar structures. CBCT gives dentists the advantage of being able to carry out correct diagnoses and, above all, correct treatment plans.

The use of MTA in nonsurgical endodontics: direct pulp capping and treatment of immature apices with the “Apical Barrier Technique”
In the late 90s, Dr. Mahmoud Torabinejad of Loma Linda University, California, developed a new cement named Mineral Trioxide Aggregate which appears to have all of the characteristics requested of the ideal cement to seal pathways of communications between the pulp and the oral cavity (mechanical and carious pulp exposures), and between the root canal system and the periodontium (iatrogenic perforations, open apices, resorbed apices, root-end preparations).

Successful endodontic treatment depends on completely removing the contents of the root canal system and sealing all communication pathways between the endodontium and periodontium. In other words, the result of endodontic treatment must be the same as obtained with the extraction of a compromised tooth.

The extraordinary characteristic of super elasticity and strength of the NiTi alloy has made it possible to produce rotary instruments capable of assuring a perfect shaping reproducible with the use of very few instruments, in a short time, without the need for the operator to have the above average manual skills.

The new ProTaper Next NiTi rotary files represent the latest generation of NiTi rotary files. Thanks to this new tool, we can now more easily achieve the shape of the root canal after preliminary canal enlargement and negotiation of the glide path.

The white coat has its roots in the Arabic word ‘qamiç’, meaning a tunic, a long, white linen underrobe worn by priests during the celebration of divine offices, but also in the Greek word ‘kámasos’, a square-shaped, sleeveless garment made of cotton, linen, or silk. The ancient Romans used it as an undergarment and adopted the Hellenic name. The first ones were beige, then they took on various colors depending on the activity of professionals and artists. However, the first person to wear a white coat was not a doctor.
